Character Name: Doctor Francis Bonnefoy
Age: 27
Staff or Patient: Staff
Sexuality: Bi-curiousPersonality Francis tends to have a casual air whenever he’s speaking to his patients. Sometimes it seems less like he’s talking to a patient and more like he’s having a chat with an old acquaintance. He likes having his patients consider him more as their friend than as their doctor. Though with patients like these it’s far easier to have them trust him when he needs to put them through treatments.
While he tries to be friendly to most people, when it comes to things outside of work he’s not above lying and smooth talking his way to get what he wants. This can be especially true when he’s dealing with some of his more stubborn colleagues at work. Of course he doesn’t mean any harm by it, he’s just been too accustomed to getting what he wants growing up.
It can be odd but sometimes he has a habit of calling himself the “big brother” to certain people he’s close enough to that normally they’d just be considered his friends. Living so far away from his family, he does miss them a lot. More so after the death of his wife and child. It’s one of his ways with coping with the loss – he needs someone he can consider family around since family has always been there for him.
He usually does take his job seriously, always making sure to keep up-to-date on his patients’ mentality to see if any of the typical treatments are working, but for some reason that never stops him from coming in late to work. He likes his leisure time after work and always winds up forgetting the time and coming home too late if he’s been out. It’s also why he may seem distracted during his first hour of work; he’s either just woken up less than minutes ago or he’s anxiously waiting for someone to bust him for being late again.
Background
Childhood:He grew up in France, born to a family that was well off. They were capable of providing him with anything he wanted so he never felt that he missed out on anything as a child. Though sometimes he missed seeing his parents as his father sometimes had to work long hours and his mother actually did work even though she wasn’t expected to.
Once he was old enough it didn’t matter as much when his parents were busy working, they would pay for him to take extra classes during that time. While they could have easily paid someone else to take care of him, his parents thought it was better to use that time to give their son the earliest start to a good education.
Teenaged Years:He was beginning to get an interest in girls and with that he paid more attention to scoring some dates than actually studying. However by now his parents were expecting him to work harder for a successful career. They hoped he’d be deciding on jobs like being a lawyer, a doctor, a politician, the CEO for a corporation, but all Francis wanted was girls.
It wasn’t until in the later years of his schooling did he finally decide to listen to some of his parents’ insistences on working on developing skills for a career. Sure, even at this age he still rather be flirting but it was a part of that that made him want a successful career more. What better way to impress a female than to have a job that gets you a lot of money? It shows that you could provide for her.
There wasn’t much thought involved when he decided he’d be a doctor. As far as his parents knew it looked like he was finally buckling down and that kept them happy. Though all Francis was really thinking was how doctors got to exam people naked and that he could use that as an excellent excuse to have pretty girls strip in front of him. He really never thought it through since not everyone he would exam would be someone he’d want to see naked, but it was a start.
Adulthood:After getting into medical school (his parents wanted him to go to the best medical school they knew of, so he studies took him overseas), Francis was starting to realise how very careless he was with his decisions. The work was far too hard, he was no longer getting any time to flirt with girls, and most importantly, everyone in medical school was
male. Not a female in sight to flirt with. If it weren’t that introducing himself as a medical student to females on the street wasn’t working for him to still catch a few dates in his now busy schedule he would have dropped out within the first month.
That was until he met her – a rare female that they allowed to study medicine. She was only studying the basics however, since they wouldn’t take a female as something such as important like a surgeon, so they didn’t have many classes together at first. But after getting to know her, they began dating.
Since then Francis began to take his studying more seriously. At first he just wanted to impress her. However he started to realise how fortunate he was to be studying medicine – real medicine. Despite her parents paying so much for her to study here, she’d not become anything more than a highly qualified nurse. Which is why when they had been together for a year, he decided that when he became the head doctor of an institute so that he could hire her as a doctor in her own right. Both their parents were certainly rich enough to ensure they’d get somewhere in their careers that it would be very possible.
This was when he focused on psychological health rather than physical. No matter what, they both realistically knew he couldn’t get her to help with anything surgical. Mental health was where they knew they can get away with this.
Before graduating they were married and living together. Shortly afterwards they would have a baby girl; it was on accident from one night of fun, but neither ever regretted it happening. They were a happy family for more than two years, until that day of a fateful car accident. Francis was the only one to survive the incident. He wouldn’t re-marry after it; in fact he has yet to look at any other woman in the same way. The only thing that kept him going was the thought of accomplishing the dream they had together. She may not be there to see it happen, but he knows it would be what she wanted.
