Personality: On the surface, Ivan appears to be a very warm and friendly person--eager to start conversations, always smiling, a generally happy soul. For the most part this holds true, but there is a reason he is in the Slytherin house. Due to the old family tradition of in-breeding to keep the Braginski bloodline pure, Ivan has a rather unstable and much darker personality behind closed doors. Only the few people who have known him for years and know him well are aware of this more dangerous twist to his cheerful persona. If not for this tiny little flaw, it is almost without a doubt that Ivan would have been sorted into Hufflepuff rather than Slytherin.

Background: The Braginski family is a prominent name in the wizarding community, thanks to his gradfather's influence within the Ministry, as well as his parents who, for a time, were famous for their dealings in the medical field. Needless to say, with such a successful reputation in his family, Ivan was pushed hard to excel in his studies since he, although not the oldest, was expected to continue on in his father's footsteps. While his household--consisting of his grandfather, both parents, and two sisters--appear to be the iconic image of a happy and well off family to the outside world, a day inside the Braginski household is full of yelling, arguing, and even fear because of the abuse spread thick among them. When Ivan was accepted into Hogwarts, he was quick to discover that he had a real talent for charms and for the care of magical creatures. Unfortunately, both classes are not what his parents wanted their little boy to excel in, so he has gotten into the habit of keeping his knowledge of such things secret to everyone except for the professors of those respective classes.
